After news broke earlier this week that the Jets had officially released veteran wideout Eric Decker, it’s time to start speculating about which franchises should pursue him.

The former Denver Bronco, Eric Decker, had a successful three year stint in New York and wont be short of suitors. The market for Jeremy Maclin was busy and it shouldn’t be much different for Decker.

At 30, Decker still has some solid production left in him. His experience and ability will be coveted, but who should leading the chase for his services?

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo is thin and without a reliable option at the receiver position. Star wideout Sammy Watkins is hugely injury prone and the depth chart behind him is hardly promising at this stage.

More from With the First Pick

After losing Robert Woods in free agency the Bills could use a steady presence like Decker in their receiver corps. Rookie Zay Jones and veteran Andre Holmes were the main offseason additions but capturing Decker would be much more influential than either of those signings.

His ability to play in the slot and out wide, combined with his veteran savvy, will be helpful to Tyrod Taylor and give Watkins more space on the opposite side. The Bills missed out on Jeremy Maclin but should do everything they can to snag Decker.

His addition as a WR2 would instantly make this one of the better receiving groups in the AFC.

Kansas City Chiefs

After Kansas City surprisingly let Jeremy Maclin go, they find themselves without much of a veteran presence at WR.

Tyreek Hill was a breakout star in 2016 but is not a true WR1. The rest of the group is inexperienced and lacking top end quality. Chris Conley has the size and ball skills to develop into a starter but adding Decker would bring some much needed experience out wide.

Decker could make up for much of Maclin’s production and would be available on a value deal. However, the Chiefs willingness to let Maclin go for nothing suggests they aren’t worried about the position so Andy Reid and co might pass on the former Jet.

Coming to Kansas City would give Decker a chance to come up against his old squad in Denver twice a year as well.

Tennessee Titans

Tennessee desperately needs to surround Marcus Mariota with more weapons out wide. Their receiver group currently includes three rookies and Richard Matthews competing to start, hardly a stellar quartet.

Decker’s experience and ability to fill roles in the slot and on the perimeter make him a valuable commodity to the Titans. His addition would help first round pick Corey Davis and take more pressure off the running game.

It makes sense for Decker too as he wouldn’t be relinquishing his WR2 role and if anything, could even see more targets without the presence of true WR1 opposite him like he has always had in Denver and New York.
