The Tennessee Titans signed free agent wide receiver Eric Decker and in the process gave themselves a huge boost to their offense.

More from With the First Pick

In 2016 the Tennessee Titans offense ranked 11th in the league.  But while the rushing offense ranked 3rd in the league, the passing offense ranked just 25th.  So coming into this season the Tennessee Titans had to make moves to improve their passing game.

They have one of the top up and coming quarterbacks in the game in Marcus Mariota.  IN his first two seasons Mariota has passed for 6,244 yards, 45 TD’s against just 19 interceptions. All of this without really having a true number one wide receiver.

However, all of that is changing.  Last season receiver Rishard Matthews had a break out season with  65 catches for 945 yards and 9 TD’s. The Tennessee Titans used their first round draft pick this year on  arguably the top wide receiver in the draft Corey Davis.

Now, the Tennessee Titans have signed Eric Decker.  He’s not considered a number one receiver anymore but Eric Decker certainly gives the Titans and Marcus Mariota another weapon on offense to exploit defenses with.

The Titans already have one of the best running attacks in the league with running backs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry.  One thing they had to do in 2017 was to create more balance on offense.

The Tennessee Titans will still be primarily a running team, but by bringing in Eric Decker this helps them add a piece that improves their chances at winning the AFC South.  The New York Jets could no longer use Eric Decker, but the Tennessee Titans sure can.
