The Baltimore Ravens are kicking things off by having their rookies report to camp today which includes several players ready to make an immediate impact.

This will be a very interesting year for the Baltimore Ravens who are going through a bit of a rough stretch. Their overall roster doesn’t feature the type of talent we are used to seeing. This is one of the reasons several of their rookies will be counted on to contribute early.

More from With the First Pick

Marlon Humphrey, the team’s 1st round pick, will significant playing time from day one. He will be competing with Brandon Carr for the starting cornerback job opposite Jimmy Smith. However, NFL defenses often use as many as four cornerbacks throughout the game.

Humphrey has a ton of physical abilities but needs to gain a better feel for the position. He will have his share of ups and downs this season.

Terrell Suggs is back for another season, but it’s obvious he has lost a step. The Ravens need rookies Tyus Bowser and Tim Williams to generate pressure on the quarterback. Even if Suggs plays at a high level Baltimore need someone to work on the opposite side.

Bowser is an interesting player in that he’s more than just a pass rush threat. He does a good job setting the edge against the run and holds up well in coverage. The Ravens should be able to find a way to get him on the field early in the year.

Don’t be surprised if Chris Wormley earns a starting defensive line job by the end of training camp. He’s an excellent fit for the 5-technique position which is a little thin at the moment. Wormley only has to beat out Brent Urban and Bronson Kaufusi.

Baltimore’s offensive line has some openings that will be filled during training camp. They need to find someone to main the right tackle and left guard spot. Rookies Nico Siragusa and Jermaine Eluemunor are a part of that competition.
