2018 NFL Mock Draft: Mid-August Update
By Jon Dove
29. Green Bay Packers- Malik Jefferson, LB, Texas
The Green Bay Packers have been shuffling players in and out of the middle linebacker spots for the past couple of years. They have even been forced to move Clay Matthews into that role which hurts their pass rush.
Malik Jefferson isn’t the most consistent performer, but he has elite quickness and plays with a strong motor. He has the potential to develop into an every-down linebacker who makes plays all over the field.
30. Oakland Raiders- Sam Hubbard, DL, Ohio State
Sam Hubbard is one of the more underrated players in the 2018 NFL Draft class. He’s a solid athlete who plays extremely hard. This is someone who wins with a combination of quickness, power and overall feel for the game.

The Oakland Raiders heavily rely on Khalil Mack to generate pressure on the quarterback and could use more options. This pick could change if Mario Edwards Jr. is able to stay health and fulfill the promise he showed as a rookie.
31. Atlanta Falcons- Da’Shawn Hand, DL, Alabama
It’ll be interesting to see how the Atlanta Falcons recover from their Super Bowl collapse. However, this is a strong roster that has a chance to be really good for several years. The most impressive part has been the quick development of the defense.
This group surprised a lot of people last year and are looking to continue that trend. However, the defensive line could use a little more depth in the future. It’s hard to predict what will happen to Dontari Poe next offseason. Da’Shawn Hand would bring some physicality to the unit.
32. New England Patriots- Jerome Baker, LB, Ohio State
The New England Patriots are almost impossible to predict because they love surprises and making trades. If they keep this pick Jerome Baker is the type of versatile defender Bill Belichick loves. His ability to both support the run and hold up in coverage makes Baker a moving chess piece.
Baker is also a strong pass rusher which would help the Patriots overcome the loss of Rob Ninkovich.
