The Washington Redskins played the Green Bay Packers in week two of the 2017 NFL Preseason. Here are three players who’s performance jumped out in the game.
Samaje Perine – running back
The Washington Redskins offense hasn’t looked good so far this preseason. Kirk Cousins and the first unit’s passing game has been inconsistent and the offensive line and running game hasn’t been much better. However, it’s only preseason.
But one player who stood out on offense in week 2 was rookie running back Samaje Perine. The fourth round draft pick struggled holding on to the ball in week one. But in week two he may have been the Redskins top performer.

Rushing for 45 yards on eight carries and he had one catch for a 29 yard gain. Perine is a big back at 236 pounds but shows quickness hitting the holes and better hands as a receiver than the Redskins knew he had coming out of Oklahoma.
Fabian Moreau – cornerback
The Washington Redskins drafted Moreau in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Had he not been injured, he probably would have gone higher. He has good size and speed for the cornerback position and has a bright future.
However, the present for Fabian Moreau as a Washington Redskin is on special teams and he showed out big time against the Green Bay Packers. On the Packers first punt, Moreau caused the returner to muff the catch, which the Redskins recovered, leading to a field goal.
Throughout the game, Moreau was routinely the first player down on coverage to tackle the returner. As Fabian Moreau develops he will help the Washington Redskins defense during the season as well but special teams is where he’ll make his biggest impact.
Chris Carter – outside linebacker
Trent Murphy is out for the 2017 season after recording 9 sacks last year. Junior Galette has still yet to make his début as a Redskin after coming back from Achilles injuries. So the Washington Redskins need people to step up at outside linebacker opposite Ryan Kerrigan.
Preston Smith is trying to bounce back after a sophomore slump and the Skins drafted Ryan Anderson in round two of the NFL draft. However, one player who has turned some heads in the preseason is veteran Chris Carter.

Like Fabian Moreau, Carter is another Redskin who will be counted on for special teams. But his skills as a pass rusher this preseason are giving the Redskins a better feeling about their depth at outside linebacker after losing Murphy. Chris Carter might help the Redskins a lot more than they initially thought when they signed him.
