Losing an established and successful quarterback is a tough pill to swallow for any franchise. The one saving grace could be the fact that the 2018 NFL Draft class is loaded at the quarterback position. Washington should have a chance to find a young replacement for Cousins.
Mason Rudolph is one of those top-rated quarterback prospects who could be available. He features excellent size, a powerful throwing arm and solid athleticism. Rudolph also continues to improve his accuracy and decision making.
Despite playing in Oklahoma State’s spread attack, he has shown the ability to go through his progressions and locate the open target. Rudolph can work across the field rather than lock on to one side of the field.
He’s not getting as much hype as the other quarterback’s in this draft, but he has more than enough talent to be an NFL starter. Rudolph also shows the poise and toughness needed to succeed.
