2018 NFL Mock Draft: Opening Weekend Edition
By Jon Dove
27. Dallas Cowboys- Christian Wilkins, DL, Clemson
A large majority of the Dallas Cowboys future draft assets should be spend on upgrading the defense. They have needs on all levels and could target the best available defender when they are on the clock. In this mock, that means adding a key piece to the defensive line.

Christian Wilkins is a disruptive defender who routinely works his way into the offensive backfield. He uses his quick first step and strength to penetrate the pocket. However, Wilkins is also stout against which only adds to his value.
Dallas would use him as a 3-technique and ask him to spend his time as a disruptor. His ability to create pressure along the interior would really help the Cowboys find more defensive consistency.
The Cowboys could also continue to add talent in the secondary—especially at cornerback. They head into the season with Orlando Scandrick, Nolan Carroll, Chidode Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis at the top of the depth chart.
Awuzie and Lewis are being forced into action as rookies because of the team’s lack of depth at the position. They have upside, but neither really projects as a No. 1 or shutdown cornerback. It’s why monitoring this position will be on the Cowboys to-do list.
