Chiefs at Patriots – The Bad

The Patriots’ passing game:

While Tom Brady passed for 267 yards, he was on 16 for 36 passing.  That’s 44% completion percentage.  When was the last time you saw that happen to Tom Brady?  It seemed like Brady was out of sync with his receivers.

No Julian Edelman, who’s lost for the season had play a part in the Patriots passing game looking so bad.  Danny Amendola stepped in for Edelman but he’s not the receiver that Edelman is.  Tom Brady didn’t have his most reliable receiver and it showed.

But this is Tom Brady we’re talking about here.  He will get the passing game going.  It’s just a matter of time.

Kansas City Chiefs’ penalties:

The Chiefs had 15 penalties for 139 yards.  Had they done better in this category they might have scored 50 on the Patriots.  It seemed like the Chiefs were trying to give the game away, but they persevered and over came all the penalty yardage they gave up.

The Patriots short yardage plays:

I felt coming into the game that the loss of LeGarrette Blount might hurt the Patriots in picking up tough yards.  The Patriots were 0-2 on 4th downs and both times they were stuffed on rushing attempts by the Chiefs defense.

Mike Gillislee did well for the Patriots on the goal line, scoring 3 TD’s.  But with it appearing as though the Patriots not wanting to risk Brady on quarterback sneaks, the Patriots will have to find a way to pick up those tough yards on third and fourth and short.
