2. team. 47. The New England Patriots fall from number 1 to number 2 in the rankings. The Patriots were shocked at home by the Kansas City Chiefs 42-27. The passing offense was inconsistent and the Patriots defense was even worse. However, the NFL season is a marathon not a sprint and the Patriots are a team that understands it’s not how you start but how you finish. Tom Brady is still the quarterback and Bill Belichick is still the head coach. They still play in the AFC East, which is one of football’s weakest divisions. So the Patriots have time to get things on track. With everything that happened against the Chiefs, the Patriots could still finish on top by the time the season is over. Beat Titans 26-16. Previous: . Oakland Raiders. 1. team. 28. The Oakland Raiders move up to number 1 from number 2 in the NFL Power Rankings this week. The Raiders went on the road and defeated the Tennessee Titans 26-16. Quarterback Derek Carr went 22 of 32 for 262 yards and 2 TD passes. Running back Marshawn Lynch made his Raiders debut and rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries. This was a hard-fought game but in the end the Raiders had more fire power than the Titans. In week 2 the Raiders return home and take on the New York Jets.
