Ohio State’s Dre’Mont Jones a force in the trenches and could be one of the first defensive players selected in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Dre’Mont Jones doesn’t often get highlighted playing on Ohio States extremely talented defensive line. However, he’s the one with the best overall skill set and highest upside. Jones is an absolute monster who lives in the offensive backfield.

He features a long frame with good thickness. His long arms allow him to initial contact and disengage from blockers. Jones has the build to hold up against the run, but the athleticism needed to penetrate the pocket.

His best fit at the next level will be as a 3-technique, but he could also be really effective as a 5-technque.

This is an explosive athlete who is routinely the first guy off the line of scrimmage. He also has excellent snap awareness. Jones is truly a disruptive force who impacts the timing of both the passing and run game.

He has a raw combination of size, speed and raw strength. Jones has everything evaluators look for in a defensive tackle prospect. His non-stop motor is another thing that checks a major box.

The real negative surrounding Jones’ game is that he is on the ground too often. It appears that he can let his momentum overtake his balance at times. He needs to do a better job being aggressive but under control.

Overall, Jones is one of the better prospects in the draft. He has tons of upside and could be a dominant force along the defensive line.
