The 1-1 Houston Texans go on the road to take on the 1-1 New England Patriots in week 3.  Here is the pick for Texans vs Patriots.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the pressure to win for their city was too great in week 1.  But the Houston Texans got their first win of the season in week 2, going to the road to beat the Cincinnati Bengals 13-9.  In Texans vs Patriots, the Texans look for win number two.

Rookie Quarterback Deshaun Watson didn’t have a statistically great game in his first start, but he did what he needed to do to win.  In facing the Patriots defense, Watson will need to have success through the air, but also with his legs as he did against the Bengals.

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots defense will try to confuse Watson with varying coverages and blitzes.  They will try to take away Watson’s top receiver DeAndre Hopkins.  So Deshaun Watson will combat that by using his mobility to extend plays and gain yardage on the ground with scrambles.

Tom Brady and the Patriots got their offense going in week 2 against the New Orleans Saints and will look to keep it going in week 3.  The Texans have the pass rushers in J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney to put pressure on Brady.

The Texans need to try to slow the game down by running the ball and limit the Patriots possessions.  If they can get some turnovers from the Patriots and control time of possessions, then they have a shot to keep things close and try to steal one at the end.

The Texans will keep things close at first because of their defense.  But the Patriots have too much offense for the Texans to overcome.  Patriot win going away.  Anyone thin the Texans can pull off the upset?
