The 2-2 Seattle Seahawks go on the road to take on the 3-1 Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West for week 5. Here is the pick for Seahawks vs Rams.
This game is a bit of a role reversal. Typically its Seattle Seahawks who sit atop the NFC West and the Los Angeles Rams who are chasing them. But after four games this season, it’s the latter who has the upper hand in Seahawks vs Rams.
New Rams head coach Sean McVay has them off to an outstanding start. Quarterback Jared Goff has improved on his rookie season and McVay has gotten running back Todd Gurley playing like he did his rookie of the year and is the focal point of the offense.
The Seattle Seahawks offense is a work in progress. They no longer run the football as they once did and must rely more on quarterback Russell Wilson to carry the offense. It’s not that he can’t do it. It’s that without a consistent running game, the pressure is on the Seahawks passing game to take up the slack and they’re not built for that.
Another reason the Seahawks are now below the Rams in the standings is because their defense isn’t as dominant as it has been in the past. It’s still very good, especially against the pass but giving up more rushing yards this season. Sean McVay will look to exploit this with Todd Gurley.
Pete Carroll needs his Seahawks to create turnovers on defense and to limit the Rams possessions by establishing the run. Russell Wilson will get rushing yards off scrambles but the Seahawks running backs need a big performance on the ground.
Not having Chris Carson due to injury will hurt the Seahawks chances running. But ultimately, I think the Rams will win this game. Their offense is more versatile than the Seahawks. Even if the Seahawks can slow them down, the Rams will still put more points on the board to get the win.
