Le’Veon Bell

Current Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Franchise Tag Likelihood: Low

Predicted New Team: Philadelphia Eagles

Honestly, I have a hard time seeing the Pittsburgh Steelers allowing Le’Veon Bell to leave via free agency. He’s the main cog of their offense and would be relied upon more if Ben Roethlisberger follows through on this retirement talk.

Bell is truly a difference maker who impacts the game as a runner and pass catcher. However, he has had injury problems in the past as well as drug-related suspensions. These are things that make a franchise hesitant to offer a big-money contract.

Pittsburgh is the team in the best position to understand Bell’s situation. They have spent plenty of time with him and should have a feel whether his issues are behind him or certain to reoccur.

If Bell does hit the open market look for the Philadelphia Eagles to take a long look. Bell would be a great fit in that offense and really help the development of Carson Wentz. The Eagles have been using a patchwork backfield with LeGarrette Blount leading the way.

It would be a bit of a gamble to throw major money at Bell, but the help he would provide Wentz would be worth a discussion.
