Carson Wentz continues to see his stock rise after another impressive performance against the Washington Redskins.

The Philadelphia Eagles decision to move up in the 2016 NFL Draft to grab quarterback Carson Wentz appears to be a slam dunk. His development over the past year has put the Eagles in prime playoff position.

Wentz had a solid rookie season despite being forced into action earlier than expected. One of the main reasons why the Eagles traded Sam Bradford is because they felt Wentz had the poise to handle the pressure.

The snaps he earned last year prepared him for his breakout Sophomore performance. However, thoughts surrounding this trade weren’t always so positive.

Philadelphia gave up a ton of draft capital which the Cleveland Browns used to grab several talented players. That current list stands at Corey Coleman, Shon Coleman, Cody Kessler, Ricardo Louis, Derrick Kindred, Jordan Payton, Spencer Drango, Jabrill Peppers and DeShone Kizer.

Cleveland also owns Philadelphia’s 2018 2nd round pick and the Houston Texans 2018 1st round pick after other trades.

Of this group of players Corey Coleman, Shon Coleman, Cody Kessler, Spencer Drango, Jabrill Peppers and Kizer have all seen significant action. The problem is that the Browns still don’t have any direction at the quarterback position.

Cleveland remains winless this year and it’s safe to assume that things would be different with Wentz under center.

Stock piling draft picks in order to build depth across the roster is a sound strategy. However, there’s little doubt that a team with tons of depth but no answer at quarterback with struggle to win football games.

Every excellent performance by Wentz has to sting for Cleveland fans, their coaches and decision makers. Philadelphia has their quarterback of the future while the Browns continue to hunt for a franchise quarterback.
