Ranking the top 3 young quarterbacks in the NFL
By Luke Drage
2. Deshaun Watson
Prior to his devastating ACL injury, Watson was likely beating even the remarkable Kareem Hunt for rookie of the year. Placing him second on such a list could easily be considered premature had he not marched into Seattle and shredded the league’s best defense on their home turf last Sunday though.
The words of admiration he received from Richard Sherman and Russell Wilson after he put 38 points on them showed exactly how good this young man is. He picked apart one of the best secondaries of all time like they have never been picked apart before.

He wowed with his arm and his legs, making jaws drop with long passes and athletic spin moves. Watson set an NFL record for the most touchdown passes through seven games in the process. He did so by passing Hall of Famer Kurt Warner.
The 22-year-old also became the first quarterback in NFL history with over 400 passing yards, 4 touchdown passes and 50 rushing yards in a single game.
He is tied with Wentz for the most scores thrown this season, despite starting a game fewer.
All this despite starting on short notice and learning on the go.
The intangibles are off the charts with the former Clemson star. He seems to receive high praise from anyone that comes into contact with him for his character and attitude. His leadership, demeanour and big game mentality are scarcely found in 22-year-old players.
Nobody can question his clutch nature after what he did in college.
He should’ve been the number one pick, and he will be a top 10 quarterback going forward.
Watson has all the arm strength needed, his athleticism is outstanding and he is proving to be highly coachable.
He is adapting much faster than expected to the complexities of Bill O’Brien’s offense and facing NFL defenses. Provided he comes back fully from this injury, his potential is almost unlimited.
The Texans have a star who is ready to be an elite quarterback capable of leading them to multiple championships.
