17. Detroit Lions

The NFC North is a mess because of the quarterback injuries that hit the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. However, the Detroit Lions still have their quarterback in place and Matthew Stafford appears to be heating up.

18. Buffalo Bills

Buffalo squandered a great opportunity this past week by losing to the Jets. This is a team that has a real shot of earning a playoff spot, but needs to avoid losing to teams they should beat.

19. Washington Redskins

Maybe it’s just timing, but every time I watch Kirk Cousins play he really impresses. He’s a steady quarterback who finds a way to make plays with what he’s given. The Redskins would be crazy to let him walk.

20. Carolina Panthers

It hasn’t been pretty for the Carolina Panthers but they just find a way to win games. They may back their way into the playoffs, but they don’t look like a team capable of really making noise in the postseason.

21. Tennessee Titans

The Panthers need Marcus Mariota to raise his level of play and lead them to the playoffs. This is shaping up to be an important stretch for both Mariota and the Titans. It could have some long-term effects on how the roster is built.

22. Oakland Raiders

Oakland is looking to build some momentum after their tight win against the Miami Dolphins. They still have a shot to win the AFC West, but need to turn it on down the stretch.

23. New Orleans Saints

The Saints just keep on winning and appear to be hitting their stride. They are getting the job done with a balanced attack. The defense still isn’t an elite unit, but they are playing aggressively and getting better each week.

24. Dallas Cowboys

It’s tough to get a strong feeling either way about the Dallas Cowboys. This is mainly because of the uncertainty surrounding Ezekiel Elliott. However, they appear playoff bound team with or without Elliott.
