Iowa’s Joshua Jackson is fast rising cornerback prospect who features good length and ball skills.

Joshua Jackson possesses a long frame with the arm length needed to get his hands on the football. He knows how to use his size to his advantage when attacking. It helps him win in contested situations and pull down interceptions.

Jackson has had a breakout year as far as interceptions are concerned—including a 3 interception performance against Ohio State. He shows the ability to track the ball and strong hands which helps him pluck the ball at its highest point.

This is a well-rounded cornerback who doesn’t hesitate to support the run. Jackson will fight through blocks to break up wide receiver screens. He also shows the ability to blitz off the corner and generate some pressure.

Iowa asks Jackson to play in zone coverage a majority of the time. However, he does have experience working in man coverage. Jackson’s skills set best suits man coverage where he can use his length and ball skills to work on the sideline.

The concerns surrounding Jackson game is tied to his length and lack of change of direction ability. Jackson struggles to flip his hips and stick with his target. He isn’t a corner who excels at keeping in-phase with the receiver.

His issues start with his long legs and are exacerbated by his upright playing style. Jackson needs to commit himself to playing with his pads down and improving his balance.

The ball skills and interception potential are what evaluators will love about his game. Jackson’s length is also something that many defensive coordinators covet. However, his lack of fluidity will be an issue and make it tough for him to limit separation.
