Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons have a chance to put up big numbers against the injury riddled Seattle Seahawks secondary.

The Seattle Seahawks will be without Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor for the remainder of the season. Seattle will have a very tough time not only replacing their talent on the field but also their leadership.

Earl Thomas is lone healthy member of the Legion of Boom, but he has dealt with his share of injuries over the past two seasons.

Seattle’s secondary has been a major part of their success over the past few years. The injuries to Sherman and Chancellor means that other areas of the team need to step up. That starts up front where the defensive line will need to generate more pressure.

It will fall on the shoulders of Michael Bennett, Frank Clark, Dwight Freeney and Sheldon Richardson to play at a higher level. Former castoffs Marcus Smith II and Dion Jordan may also be called on more to contribute.

The pressure has also increased for rookie cornerback Shaquill Griffin. He has already been given a lot of responsibility which only increases with the injury to Sherman.

This week is a really tough matchup for the Seahawks secondary as they face Matt Ryan. The Falcons have been off to a slow start offensively, but have started to show signs of life. They will no doubt be looking to take advantage of the Seattle’s injury problem.

Look for Atlanta to try to take few shots down the field with Julio Jones and get off to a fast start. This matchup could give us a preview of what to expect for there of the year for the Seattle secondary.
