The end of the NFL regular season is drawing near and we are getting a clear picture of how the top part of the 2018 NFL Draft Order could shake out.

This is another updated verison of my predicted 2018 NFL Draft Order. We are only a few weeks away from finalizing the non-playoff spots in the draft so the time of prediction the order is just about done.

As usual, this order was developed using ESPN’s latest Power Rankings with a playoff scenario worked in.

1. Cleveland Browns

The Browns are very close to locking up the No. 1 overall pick. However, they are equally as close to finishing the season without a win. The franchise did get some good news this past week when they hired John Dorsey as their new General Manager.

2. New York Giants

The New York Giants are still in the process of finding a new General Manager which will have a major impact on the team’s future. It’s looking more and more likely that this could be Eli Manning’s last year with the franchise.

3. Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis is limping to the end of what has been a lost season. The only hope this franchise has is that Andrew Luck can get healthy for the start of next year. They also have a chance to add a blue-chip player with this pick.

4. San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco is playing much better with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. His play has sparked some optimism for next season and a quicker pace to the team’s rebuild. The 49ers will not only have an early 1st round pick but also plenty of cap room to improve the roster.

5. New York Jets

It was a great run for Josh McCown as the New York Jets starting quarterback. He played well enough to win a few games with limited talented around him. I expect things to get pretty ugly from here with either Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg at quarterback.

6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I have a hard time seeing a scenario where Dirk Koetter returns as the team’s head coach. The Buccaneers just haven’t played good football and more importantly Jameis Winston has taken a step back.

7. Chicago Bears

Chicago is coming off an impressive win against the Cincinnati Bengals where Mitch Trubisky has the best game of his young career. The development of Trubisky should be the main focus of John Fox and his coaching staff.

8. Cleveland Browns (via Hou)

The Browns are hoping to see the Houston Texans rack up a few more losses. It’s looking very possible that Cleveland lands two picks in the top-5.
