The NFC Playoff Race Close to Finished

Last night’s win by the Atlanta Falcons brought them one step closer to earning a spot at the end of the NFC playoff race.

The NFC playoff race has been a tightly contested affair. There is still some hope for teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lion. The main reason these teams are still alive is because of the NFC South’s remaining schedule.

It’s especially tough for the Atlanta Falcons who need to face off against the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. However, the Falcons are one of the hottest teams in the league right now and could very well win both of these games.

Winning both games would mean that the Falcons will repeat as NFC South Champions.

The teams on the outside looking in need to see a major collapse by one the NFC South playoff contenders. It’s an unlikely scenario, but crazier things have happened. However, a loss by either of those teams would signal the end of their playoff hopes.

Dallas and the Seahawks face off this weekend which means one of then will be out of the race soon. The Cowboys are playing the better football of the two and are hope for this matchup. Dallas’ last game of the season is against the Philadelphia Eagles who already have a playoff spot locked up.

Detroit has two very winnable games left against the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals. Green Bay is the tougher of the two matchups especially if Aaron Rodgers is still in the lineup. The Packers would love to play spoiler to the Lions playoff hopes.
