The Seattle Seahawks missed the playoffs this year and it has resulted in some major changes to the coaching staff.

Things are going to look a lot different for the Seattle Seahawks next season. They are making some huge changes to the coaching staff which started with the firing of offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Seattle’s offense has been a very unique unit with Bevell running the show. However, some of that has to do with the players at his disposal. Russell Wilson isn’t a traditional quarterback and his skill set requires a unique game plan.

This change seems to be more about a change in voice rather than a failure by Bevell. Placing the blame on Bevell for the offense’s struggles isn’t fair. The Seahawks have dealt with a lack of talent on the offensive line which forced Bevell to get even more creative.

There are some rumors that Steve Sarkisian will make the move back to the West Coast and take over as the Seahawks offensive coordinator. It’s really hard to see this as an upgrade as Sarkisian hasn’t lit the world on fire with the Atlanta Falcons.

Next, a report surfaced that Kris Richard will be removed as defensive coordinator. There has been no word about a potential replacement, but this is another move that seems a little unjustified. Richard help his unit survive a large number of injuries to significant players.

The offensive staff will also be losing Tom Cable who has coached the offensive line for the past several years. Cable has worked wonders over the past few years with limited talent. Seattle was able to somehow survive with low-level players and defenders converted to the offensive line.

It’ll be interesting to see how all these changes impact the play on the field. Seattle still has enough talent on the roster to contend, but they will need these coaching changes to be as smooth as possible.
