2018 NFL Draft: Top 5 Offensive Prospects
By Jon Dove
Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
Allen is one of the more polarizing prospects in the entire 2018 NFL Draft. He features eye-popping physical attributes, but his play is full of inconsistencies. This is the type of prospect that can make or break the career of an NFL General Manager.
It will be hard for any decision maker to ignore the raw talent Allen possesses. He has ideal size, bulk and overall athleticism for the position. His arm strength is tops in this year’s class and can likely matchup with some of the more powerful arms in the NFL.
He can make some throws that only a few humans on planet earth can make. This has to do with both his arm strength and athleticism. Allen features the body control to deliver the ball from unique angles while under duress.

The ability to escape the pocket and still find an open receiver has become increasingly more important over the years. Allen is a piece of clay who is ready to be molded into an NFL star.
Things get a little dicey when you start to dive deeper into his tape. Allen has inconsistent footwork which impacts his overall accuracy. The inconsistency with his delivery and ball placement are a major cause for concern.
However, plenty of quarterbacks have cleaned up their footwork and thus accuracy once they reached the next level. Whoever drafts Allen will absolutely work on the consistency of his drop and how he moves in the pocket.
Personally, I put a lot of stock in the amount of talent surrounding a quarterback prospect. Allen just didn’t have much help at Wyoming. However, he didn’t let it impact his demeanor or the way he competed.
These are the types of things that speak to a kids character and create optimism on if he can take to coaching.
