Penn State’s DaeSean Hamilton is a solid receiver prospect climbing up 2018 NFL Draft boards.

DaeSean Hamilton has used an excellent Senior Bowl performance to build his 2018 NFL Draft stock. The Penn State receiver had a terrific college career and his play during the Senior Bowl week backs up. He has a chance to hear his name called early than expected.

Hamilton is a strong route runner who can attack all levels of the field. He does a good job maintaining his speed in and out of his breaks. His ability to disguise his routes also helps him create separation. He has the makings of a very effective slot receiver.

However, Hamilton does have more than enough size and length to work on the outside.

This is a hard-nosed player who doesn’t hesitate to work over the middle and will fight for extra yards after the catch. Hamilton also features good overall hands with the ability to pluck the ball away from his frame.

He has shown the ability to make plays in contested situations. Hamilton is a solid leaper with the timing to attack the ball at its highest point. However, he tends to arm catch the ball when in these situations. He’ll need to be more consistent using his hands to pluck the ball.

His contested catch skills can also be contributed to his strength as a player. He does a good job box out the defender and working through contact.

The biggest question mark surrounding Hamilton is his speed. He doesn’t jump off the screen as someone capable of outpacing defenders. His ability to make plays on the field depends more on his savvy and route running.

This is why the combine results will play a role in Hamilton’s overall draft stock. He has shown the skills necessary to be a good slot receiver at the next level. However, he needs to put up a good 40-time to solidify his draft range.
