NFL Free Agency: Predicting the Quarterback Carousel
By Jon Dove
The New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers draft their quarterback’s of the future
There are several teams in the league that have aging stars at quarterback and no long-term replacement plan. This would be a great year to land a young signal caller capable of being groomed into a starter.
The Patriots are the first team to come to mind when talking about finding a developmental quarterback. Their trade of Jimmy Garoppolo left them without someone capable of taking over for the aging Tom Brady.
New England will draft a quarterback in this draft and seem like a group that would take a risk on Richmond’s Kyle Lauletta. He’s an underrated prospect with the raw tools needed to be a NFL starter. However, he does need time to develop which he will get behind Brady.

The Pittsburgh Steelers known that Ben Roethlisberger is near the end of his career. They currently have Landry Jones and Josh Dobbs on the roster. However, neither have shown that they are slam dunk candidates to replace Roethlisberger.
Mason Rudolph is a strong-armed quarterback who features solid athleticism and a feel for the position. He would be a great option to learn behind Roethlisberger and develop into his replacement.
Drew Brees is down to his final years in the league which puts the Saints in a tough position. They need to both pay Brees as long as he is willing to play and plan for the future. Luke Falk would be a nice option as a developmental prospect.
The Chargers are also in the market for a young quarterback. Philip Rivers doesn’t have many years left in the tank. They have Cardale Jones on the roster, but could target a high upside prospect like Mike White in this draft.
