2018 NFL Draft: Jordan Lasley Scouting Report

UCLA’s Jordan Lasley is a 2018 NFL Draft wide receiver prospect who has a knack for producing big plays down the field.

Jordan Lasley is one of the more explosive receiver prospects in the 2018 NFL Draft. He features the burst and top-end speed needed to stretch the field. His concentration and reliable hands help him haul in the deep ball.

Lasley is a quick-twitch athlete who can get up to full speed in a hurry. His start and stop ability help him create space as a route runner and pick up yards after the catch.

He’s built like slot receiver in that he lacks great height or bulk for the position. His route running skills and ability to work across the middle also fit the slot receiver mold. He also doesn’t contribute much as a contested catch target.

Lasley isn’t going to out battle or out leap many defensive backs at the next level. He is more of someone who will outpace them or create space due to his route running.

It’s important to note that Lasley shouldn’t be shoe horned into the slot receiver label. He is someone capable of attacking the defense on multiple levels. His speed not only allows him to stretch the field but makes him a threat in open space.

Lasley has proven capable of turning a short reception into a big gain. His route running really stands out thanks to his balance and feel.

He does a great job getting in and out of his breaks without losing speed. Lasley is also able to identify the opening the defense. His willingness to go across the middle and work the crossing routes play to his ability to pick up yards after the catch.

When working on the outside, Lasley shows the body control needed to get his feet down on the sideline. He also is able to adjust to poorly thrown balls and work the back shoulder throws. These skills add to the versatility of his game.

The only real question marks surrounding Lasley’s game are his lack of elite size and some off-field concerns. Otherwise, this is a big-play threat who can also help move the chains. Lasley has a ton of upside if he can keep focused.
