The Baltimore Ravens are hoping that by addressing a few team needs they can get back into the playoffs.

This is an important offseason for the Baltimore Ravens who must fill several team needs. However, their roster has a strong enough base that making a few key additions could help get them back into the postseason mix.

The Ravens salary cap situation isn’t ideal with only around $12 million to spend. They also don’t have any extra draft picks this year unless they gain some through the compensatory process. Basically, Ozzie Newsome and company will need to get created to plug the team’s holes.

Below are the Baltimore Ravens top-3 team needs:

1. Wide Receiver

The Ravens have been getting by at the wide receiver position by bringing in nearly washed up veterans. They have actually found some success with this approach, but it always leaves them needing to fill a need.

More from With the First Pick

Baltimore must find a young receiver who can develop into a lead role. This year’s draft makes completing this task a tricky scenario. However, there is a slight chance that my top rated receiver, Calvin Ridley, is still on the board when the Ravens pick.

The other option is waiting until the middle rounds where there are plenty of intriguing options. Obviously, those prospects are less certain to develop and don’t really solve the team’s immediate need.

Baltimore’s salary cap situation makes finding a receiver on the free agent market a stretch. Honestly, it looks like they could be continuing with their strategy from previous years.

2. Offensive Line

Baltimore had a difficult time replacing Right Tackle Ricky Wagner who left via free agency. This offseason could create more  holes along the offensive line with Ryan Jensen and James Hurst expected to hit the open market.

This means the Ravens head into the offseason with question marks at right tackle, guard and center. They obviously need to do some work to rebuild their offensive line.

3. Running Back

Alex Collins enjoyed a solid season and will head into training camp as the team’s starter. That of course is unless the Ravens make a significant addition at the position. Collins has only one year of production under his belt so it’s possible the Ravens look to add some insurance.

This year’s draft has a lot of running back depth and could provide the Ravens with another starting option.
