Despite missing the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys remain one of the better teams in the NFL. They just need to fill a few key team needs in order to get back into the mix.

The Dallas Cowboys have a solid roster base could quickly find themselves back in the playoff hunt by filling some team needs. Luckily, they have the most important position on the field filled with Dak Prescott.

Dallas is projected to have $20 million in salary cap space, but a large chunk of that will be eaten up by DeMarcus Lawrence. He’s a pending free agent and too important piece to let hit the open market.

The Cowboys do have all their 2018 NFL Draft picks except for their 5th round selection. Overall, they might have just enough assets to add talent at each of their biggest needs.

Below are the Dallas Cowboys top-3 team needs for this offseason:

1. Wide Receiver

It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys have soured on Dez Bryant as their No. 1 receiver. He has obviously lost a step and just hasn’t been very productive over the past few seasons. His decline has made it difficult for the Cowboys to open up the offense.

They need to come out of this offseason with a big-play threat and someone Dak Prescott can target in key situations.

Dallas is in the sweat spot for receivers in the 2018 NFL Draft. They could sit back and wait to see if someone like Alabama’s Calvin Ridley falls into their lap or jump on an explosive athlete like Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk.

2. Tight End

Jason Witten has never been an explosive athlete, but he is even less of a vertical threat at this point in his career. His declining athleticism also also played a major part in the Cowboys lack of a vertical attack.

Dallas again should have a great opportunity in the draft to find a long-term replacement for Witten. Prospects like Penn State’s Mike Gesicki and Oklahoma’s Mark Andrews could be available when the Cowboys are on the clock in the 2nd round.

3. Linebacker

Anthony Hitchens is a pending free agent and it might be tough for the Cowboys to retain his services. This will create a hole in the linebacker corps which always needs to protect against a Sean Lee injury.

Dallas could get by with a bargain free agent, but they need to start planning for the future.
