NFL Team Needs: Los Angeles Rams Team Needs
By Jon Dove
The Los Angeles Rams already made a big splash this offseason by acquiring Marcus Peters, but they have other team needs to fill.
Landing a big-time cornerback like Marcus Peters helped answer of the Los Angeles Rams biggest questions. They entered the offseason with three of their top defensive backs heading to free agency.
The expected price tag for Trumaine Johnson obviously forced them to go in a new direction. Trading for Peters isn’t just replacing Johnson– it’s an upgrade at the No. 1 corner spot.
Los Angeles is projected to have around $46 million in cap space this offseason. However, most of that might be spent keeping their home-grown talent in place. They also need to workout a contract extension with Aaron Donald.
The Rams have 8 draft picks, missing their 2nd round pick and owning 3 in the 6th round. Not having the 2nd round pick hurts, but they have plenty of ammo to get creative. The one hold up is that we haven’t see the package of picks the Rams gave up to get Peters.
Below are the Los Angeles Rams top-3 team needs:
1. Pass Rusher
Aaron Donald is an elite defender and generates a ton of pressure in the quarterback’s face. However, the Rams aren’t getting the type of production they expect from Robert Quinn. The lack of pressure off the edge is a cause for concern.

Los Angeles is in solid position in the 1st round of the 2018 draft if they want to land a pass rusher. Someone like Ohio State’s Sam Hubbard or LSU’s Arden Key would make a lot of sense for the Rams.
2. Center
John Sullivan did a solid job last season, but is a pending free agent. The Rams could look to replace him with a younger, cheaper and more effective option. This year’s draft has several solid center prospects who can be day-1 starters.
My top rated center is Iowa’s John Daniels who could be available when the Rams pick in the 1st round. Other options include Ohio State’s Billy Price, Arkansas’ Frank Ragnow and Michigan’s Mason Cole.
3. Defensive Tackle
Donald and Michael Brockers are locked in as the starting defensive tackles. However, there isn’t any depth behind those too. The Rams would be wise to bring in another defensive tackle to help bolster the defensive line’s rotation.
