Free Agency: Kirk Cousins or Bust

The Minnesota Vikings are one of the more appealing franchises in the NFL. Minnesota has a respected head coach in Mike Zimmer, an elite defense, and quality playmakers at wide receiver, tight end, and running back.

The Vikings haven’t exactly been a premier free agent destination, but Gil Brandt of NFL.com reports that the organization shares mutual interest with Kirk Cousins.

Cousins is the most coveted quarterback in the 2018 class of free agents. That’s due in large part to the fact that the 29-year-old is the only player in the NFL who has thrown for at least 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns in each of the past three seasons.

Cousins threw 81 touchdowns to 36 interceptions during that time, which is good for a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 2.25.

With Minnesota in possession of a dominant defense and a number of quality skill players, Cousins could be the perfect fit. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen provide great balance at wide receiver, Kyle Rudolph is sure-handed at tight end, and Dalvin Cook should come back strong at running back.

If the Vikings fail to sign Cousins, however, it should come down to the 2018 NFL Draft and the incumbents.
