Minnesota Vikings: Is NFL Draft or free agency more likely to fill QB void?
The Verdict
If the Minnesota Vikings can sign Kirk Cousins, it would be worth the cost. Some may debate that statement, but when a team has an elite defense that should hold its form the following season, the push for a Super Bowl must be immediate.
If the Vikings fail to sign Cousins, however, the best option would be to re-sign a veteran and draft a player to develop behind them.
Lamar Jackson would be a dynamic playmaker for a Vikings team that would benefit from diversifying its rushing attack. His passing ability has earned some measure of criticism, but he has a big arm and deep ball accuracy.
If Minnesota can develop Jackson’s short and intermediate accuracy while he sits behind a veteran, it could have a star on its hands.
Mason Rudolph also makes sense as an accurate passer who can get the ball to where it needs to be. The dark horse, however, is Luke Falk. Falk doesn’t throw the ball deep very often, but he could be a late second-round draft pick who doesn’t apply as much pressure to a veteran.
Falk is one of the most accurate passers in this draft class, and he has the work ethic to support his improving draft stock.
