Can the Buffalo Bills trade into the Top-5 of the 2018 NFL Draft?
By Jon Dove
The Buffalo Bills are loaded with a ton of 2018 NFL Draft capital, but is it enough for them to get into the top-5?
Things are shaping up for the top of the 2018 NFL Draft to be very quarterback heavy. The Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Denver Broncos all have needs at the position. Then there’s the Buffalo Bills who are rumored to be interested in trading up to land a quarterback.
This weekend we saw a trade between the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts that moved the Jets into the No. 3 slot. New York needed to give up a lot of ammo in order to land this pick. Below is a breakdown of what they gave up and how it’s valued on the NFL Draft Trade Chart:
No. 6 overall- 1,600 points
No. 37 overall- 530 points
No. 49 overall- 410 points
2019 2nd Round Pick- 500 points
Total- 3,040
The Jets gave up a total of 4 picks three of which are in the 2nd round. These picks are extremely valuable and give the Colts a chance to add some significant talent.

However, this trade was all about the Jets getting into position to land their franchise quarterback.
Buffalo is in position to make a trade of their own, but it will take more than what the Jets surrendered. The first team that makes sense for the Bills to negotiate with are the New York Giants.
This would put the Bills ahead of the Jets and give them more choices. The Giants No. 2 pick is worth 2,600 points on the trade chart. Below is a look at what the Bills could potentially offer the Giants:
No. 12 overall- 1,200 points
No. 22 overall- 780 points
No. 53 overall- 370 points
No. 56 overall- 340 points
No. 65 overall- 265 points
Total- 2,955 points
These five picks would represent equal value on the trade chart, but doesn’t match what the Jets gave up to move only 3 spots. It’s likely the Bills would also have to include a future 1st round pick to get this deal done.
There’s also a strong possibility that the Giants aren’t looking to move their pick. This might be the reason the Jets moved to No. 3 rather than working with the Giants for the No. 2 pick.
Buffalo’s next trade target would then be the Cleveland Browns at No. 4 overall. The No. 4 pick is worth 1,800 points and might be available for the package mentioned above. However, Buffalo may feel the price is too steep for what would be the third quarterback selected.
