2018 NFL Draft: Holton Hill Scouting Report
By Jon Dove
Texas’ Holton Hill is an extremely talented 2018 NFL Draft cornerback prospect who comes with off-field question marks.
Holton Hill had a rocky career at Texas which included being suspended from the team. The reports are that Hill failed multiple drug tests which resulted in his suspension. This off-field problem puts his 2018 NFL Draft stock in question.
We have seen several NFL stars miss plenty of action due to drug problems. The most notable is Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns. Hill has the talent to be drafted, but it will take a team willing to go out on a limb.
When on the field, Hill shows the ability to be a shutdown cornerback. He features a long frame with excellent arm length.
His commitment to keeping his pads down in his backpedal gives him excellent balance. He is able to use this balance to quickly click and close on the football. Hill has flashed strong ball skills and the ability to win in contested situations.

This is an aggressive defender who attacks the ball and will support the run. In fact, he has been known to deliver some big hits.
His willingness to come up and make a tackle is something defensive coordinators will love to see.
One area of concern is that he can be a little grabby down the field. He needs to work on keeping in phase without using his hands.
Hill’s missed time due to suspension limited the amount of tape to evaluate. However, this is a highly talented prospect with the potential to be a difference maker at the next level.
Based on his talent, Hill would be in the 2nd round range.
However, there is a strong possibility that he goes completely undrafted. The interview process will be key to his hope of being drafted.
