Johnny Manziel is looking to make an NFL comeback, but only a handful of teams actually make sense.

It’s difficult for an NFL quarterback to wash out of the league and work their way back into the mix. Things are especially tough when you have the type of background and public history as Johnny Manziel.

Any team who signs Manziel should expect a media circus to follow. There are only a few teams in the league that are both willing and capable of  handling such attention.

Below is a look at the best fits for Manziel should he get another chance in the NFL:

1. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have never been shy about giving a player a second chance. They have added the likes of Adam “Pacman” Jones, Vontaze Burfict and Terrell Owens. Signing Manziel would be something that’s in their wheelhouse.

Cincinnati could also use some extra competition for the backup quarterback spot. Matt Barkley and Jeff Driskel are the only options behind Andy Dalton at the moment.

A focused Manziel would certainly be an upgrade over both of those players. The Bengals are a good a bet as any to give him another shot in the league.

2. Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones has been upfront about his fondness of Manziel. He may now have a chance to add him to the roster for pennies. Cooper Rush is the Cowboys top backup option at the moment so there’s room for some competition.

3. Tennessee Titans

Manziel is best known for his ability to create in and out of the pocket. His mobility is an important part of his game which fits the Titans plans for Marcus Maroita. There’s also an injury concern with Mariota that makes having a solid backup a necessity.

Alex Tanney is the top backup on the roster and he really doesn’t offer much upside. Manziel would be a controversial addition but an upgrade.

4. New England Patriots

There are already reports that Manziel and the Patriots have met. The fit makes sense as Bill Belichick believes his culture can deal with any personality. Things haven’t always worked out– see Chad Ochocinco.

However, this might be the best landing spot for Manziel who could sit in the background and show he has changed his ways.
