The Cleveland Browns have had a very busy offseason and are hoping that these changes can help spur a quick turnaround.

It was an aggressive offseason for the Cleveland Browns who made significant moves in free agency, via trade and in the draft. The additions to the team should help them be more competitive in the upcoming season.

However, they are hoping that they are also building for the future. The additions made in the draft brought more youth to the roster.

Baker Mayfield will be the new face of the franchise even if he doesn’t see the field as a rookie. His charisma and fiery approach will draw a lot of attention. The Browns are also hoping that he can find plenty of success on the field.

However, Hue Jackson has been adamant that Tyrod Taylor will be the team’s starting quarterback. Taylor is a veteran presence who takes care of the football. He has a legitimate chance of hanging onto the starting job for the entire season.

Cleveland used a lot of resources building up the offensive weapons around the quarterback. Jarvis Landry was the biggest splash and should be a major help.

Landry may lack big-play ability, but he provides the quarterback with a reliable target. He is someone who can move the chains and pick up yards after the catch. His presence will be key to the development of Mayfield.

Carlos Hyde and Nick Chubb were brought in to help the running game. Hyde has performed well when on the field, but has struggled to stay healthy. It’s very likely that Chubb sees most of the early-down action with Duke Johnson entering the game on 3rd down.

The offensive line is also going through a change after Joe Thomas decided to retire. There will be a camp battle for the starting left tackle spot between Shon Coleman, Austin Corbett and Roderick Johnson.

There’s also a chance that Chris Hubbard gets a shot at left tackle but he might be a better fit on the right side.

Coleman has the early edge, but Corbett was selected at the top of the 2nd round and is expected to see time as a rookie.

The defensive side of the ball also added some new starting personnel. Rookie cornerback Denzel Ward should open the season as one of the starters. He’ll be joined in the secondary by Damarious Randall who was picked up via trade.

Overall, the Browns have added some real talent to the roster. They absolutely should increase their win total (up from zero) this year. It wouldn’t come as a complete shock if they approached the 8-win mark.
