LSU’s Devin White is one of the most explosive athletes eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Devin White is someone who immediately jumps off the screen when watching LSU’s defense. He’s an elite athlete who covers a ton of ground. His explosiveness makes him a true sideline to sideline defender.

White plays with a low-center of gravity which gives him balance. He is able to quickly change direction as he attacks the ball carrier. This combined with his elite speed helps him always be around the football.

He is a very aggressive defender and always in attack mode. White uses this relentlessness to make an impact on just about every down.

However, there are times where he will be overly aggressive and create running room. White needs to be more aware of his angles and avoid getting out of position. This aggressive approach also shows up after the play in the form of celebrations. White may need to keep himself in check from time to time.

The problem is that it would be counterproductive to ask him to lower his intensity. His non-stop motor is one of the things that makes him such a great player.

White is not only a tremendous athlete but also someone who understands the game. He does a good job reading his keys and working to the football. In the passing game, he keeps his head on a swivel and identifies developing routes.

LSU asks White to do a lot of communicating where he helps set up the pre-snap alignments. This shows that White can be a leader as well as a playmaker.

His impact in the passing game isn’t limited to coverage. LSU utilizes White as a blitzer and quarterback spy. His snap time and closing speed make him an elite blitzer and someone can make life miserable for opposing quarterbacks.

White’s lack of size and bulk will be a concern throughout the process. He is someone who needs to work around blocks rather than meeting someone in the hole. It will be interesting to see how he measures at the Combine.

Overall, White has elite physical tools and feel for the game. He is a proven playmaker who covers a ton of ground.
