The Buffalo Bills went into this offseason looking to find their long-term answer at the quarterback position and feel they did just that with Josh Allen.

This offseason for the Buffalo Bills will be remembered for their draft-day trade for quarterback Josh Allen– for better or for worse. He’s the guy they have invested in as their franchise quarterback.

Luckily, Allen doesn’t have to be rushed into action thanks to the Bills signing of A.J. McCarron. There are still some out there who feel that McCarron has a shot to be an effective NFL starter. This would be a feather in the Bills cap who can then look to trade him next year.

It might be in Buffalo’s best interest to sit Allen for most of the year. The offense is light on surrounding talent which will make life easier for the young quarterback.

Buffalo’s receiving corps big addition was Andre Holmes who will be nothing more than a complementary piece. That presents a problem thanks to the injury history of Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones‘ off-field incident.

Basically, the Bills can’t feel comfortable with the talent and reliability of their receiving group.

The one area they did add some help is at the running back spot. Chris Ivory was brought in to help give LeSean McCoy a breather. Ivory has his shortcomings, but could be very effective in a complementary role.

Things along the offensive line don’t look very promising. Buffalo lost 3 starters in Richie Incognito, Cordy Glenn and Eric Wood. Their only additions were Russell Bodine and rookie Wyatt Teller.

The defensive side of the ball added some solid players. Rookies Tremaine Edmunds and Harrison Phillips should see early action. Edmunds is a special athlete who can cover a ton of ground and also contribute as a pass catcher.

Veteran Star Lotulelei and Phillips are expected to help sure up the run defense which had its issues last year.

Buffalo made an under the radar move by bringing in Trent Murphy. This move was a little risky with Murphy coming off a knee injury, but there’s upside here. Murphy has solid pass rushing skills and a defense can never have too many pass rushers.

The secondary added Vontae Davis who is looking to rebound from the injury-plagued end to his career with the Indianapolis Colts.
