The New England Patriots are still recovering from an offseason with some major roster changes while dealing with a Super Bowl loss.

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are back for another run at a Super Bowl title. However, the New England Patriots head into the season with question marks at a few key positions. They’ll need this offseason to work in several new starters.

The biggest question mark is who will replace Nate Solder at left tackle. It appears that rookie Isaiah Wynn, Marcus Cannon and LaAdrian Waddle will be the main options.

Wynn was the team’s 1st round pick and might have the inside track. However, he has less than ideal measurables for a left tackle and many feel he is better suited to play guard. The Patriots wouldn’t be wrong to let him compete at left tackle and see how it plays out.

Moving Cannon from right tackle to left tackle would open up a spot for Trent Brown. New England traded a 3rd round pick to the San Francisco 49ers in order to add Brown to the mix.

More from With the First Pick

Brown is coming off a injury plagued season, but has proven in the past to be an above-average starter. His skills as a pass protector might mean the Patriots give him a shot at winning the left tackle job.

The Patriots are looking at changes at the skill positions where they need to replace Brandin Cooks. They traded him to the Los Angeles Rams for a 1st round pick which they used to select Sony Michel.

This move added more bodies to an already crowded running back group. However, Michel should expect to get plenty of touches. The Patriots didn’t use a 1st round pick on him to sit him on the bench.

Another running back added to the mix was Jeremy Hill who isn’t guaranteed a roster spot. He’ll need to outperform the likes of Mike Gillislee and Rex Burkhead.

Many will be looking at rookie receiver Braxton Berrios to stand out during training camp. He’s the type of slot receiver who has excelled in New England. However, he’ll face competition from newcomers Jordan Matthews and Cordarrelle Patterson.

Defensively, the Patriots beefed up the defensive line with the additions of Danny Shelton and Adrian Clayborn. Both figure to provide more toughness in the trenches with the hope Clayborn can also generate some pressure.

The secondary saw the addition of Jason McCourty and rookie Duke Dawson. These two players should see plenty of action with Dawson a candidate to grab the slot corner job.
