Sleeper: Mike Edwards, Kentucky

Projected mid-round pick Mike Edwards is a sleeper with high upside heading into the 2019 NFL Draft. Overlooked by Josh Allen on a loaded Kentucky defense, Edwards has quietly been one of the best-kept secrets in Lexington. Edwards has been one of the most productive safeties in school history.

The senior bowl bound Edwards recorded over 300 tackles in his carer and had two seasons of 96 or more. He also proved to be a ball hawk as he had 10 interceptions, two touchdowns, a forced recovery, and two forced fumbles in his career. If you put those numbers next to the career of former Alabama Crimson Tide safety, and now Chicago Bear, Eddie Jackson they’re very comparable.

With 23 career passes defended and 21 tackles for a loss Edwards as proved he is above average against both the run and pass. Mike Edwards has decent size at 6’0, 200 pounds and can match up with some of the bigger tight ends.

Edwards could very well be the steal of the 2019 NFL Draft. Mike Edwards has shown to be a versatile swiss army knife on defense who has a knack for making big plays and taking the ball away from the offense.
