In Episode 3 of the With The First Pick Podcast, Rookie Scouting Portfolio author Matt Waldman joins the show to talk about this year’s running back class.

The With The First Pick Podcast is off and running, and in Episode 3, we’re joined by longtime NFL draft scout Matt Waldman, who helps break down the 2019 NFL draft running back class.

We start at the top of the position with Alabama’s Joshua Jacobs, who despite being the consensus top player in this year’s class isn’t without his concerns. Should Trent Richardson serve as a cautionary tale for Jacobs’ evaluation?

Iowa State’s David Montgomery is up next, who ranks as one of my favorite players in the class, regardless of position. Waldman provides his take on the kind of player Montgomery profiles as for the NFL and why he can be just a successful as a pro that Jacobs can be.

Penn State’s Miles Sanders and Alabama’s Damien Harris are discussed as well, with both players having very different ceilings in their pro projection.

Waldman offers a few sleepers as well, including Boise State’s Alexander Mattison, and why the former Bronco can be one of the biggest gems in this year’s deep crop of running backs.
