Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is already one of the headline stars of the expected 2020 NFL draft class, drawing comparisons to elite playmaking pros like Odell Beckham, Jr.

But NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah offered a different — and less exciting — comp for Jeudy on Twitter Monday.

He compared the Crimson Tide standout to current Los Angeles Rams wideout, Robert Woods.

“Bama WR Jerry Jeudy = smooth operator,” Jeremiah tweeted. “He’s such an easy mover. Reminds me a little of Robert Woods coming out of USC. Same frame, same understanding/instincts.

Draft fans may not be thrilled with that comp, considering Woods hasn’t packed the kind of punch as a pro that Beckham’s been able to do. But that doesn’t mean it’s a knock or even undersell of Jeudy’s potential NFL upside.

Remember: Woods was stuck in Buffalo for the first few years of his career and was limited by the offense and his supporting cast. He’s found much more success with the Rams over the last two seasons.

Woods enjoyed a career-year in 2018, registering 86 catches for 1,219 yards nad six touchdowns. Prior to last season, Woods’ best single-season performance totaled just 781 yards (also with the Rams.)

It’s also worth noting that 2018 was the first season Woods played all 16 games.

Clearly, and when healthy, Woods is a borderline elite NFL wideout. He just turned 27 years old in April and is entering the prime years of his career. It’s within the realm of possibility that Woods is just now realizing his potential and will be a perennial 1,200-yard pass-catcher from here on out.

So, yeah, that’s a pretty great comp for Jeudy if he can match that kind of success as a pro. It’s also just another on the long list of reasons why Jeudy will be a top-five pick next April.
