Steelers LB Devin Bush launches clothing line with an important message
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Devin Bush will look to prove his size won’t hold him back, both on and off the field.
Standing 5’11”, 234lbs, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie linebacker Devin Bush will have immense pressure on his shoulders. Not only is he fighting the stigma of being an “undersized” mike linebacker in the NFL, but he’s also filling the shoes of the beloved Ryan Shazier and is the first top-10 pick by the six-time Super Bowl champions since Plaxico Burress in 2000.
Before he gets to prove himself on the gridiron however, he has a message to spread with his new clothing line UNDRSZD, which he detailed in an interview with Sports Xtra on WSVN.
“This is a basic message,” Bush said. “Undersized, it’s not about being physical, it’s just about being at a mental level. People try to knock a lot of things about what you’re trying to do and how you’re trying to do it because that’s how the world is. A lot of people are going to have negative things to say, and a lot of people undermine what you’re trying to do in life, so you gotta embrace it. Just keep doing what you’re doing.”
Bush isn’t lacking in brash confidence. The former Michigan Wolverine’s vandalizing of the Michigan State midfield logo will live on as a highlight in the history of the Big 10 rivalry. That same confidence saw Bush already commanding the Steelers defense in Spring practices.
“I kinda use my height and how I’m built to my advantage. I’m not a huge target, nor am I a big body to hit. So I can get up under taller guys and guys who are longer than me.”
His height “advantage” coupled with his 4.43 40-yard dash, good for the Combine’s second-best among linebackers, makes Bush a sideline-to-sideline missile with incredible tackling power.
For those curious, yes, Bush’s NFL Draft suit is from his UNDRSZD brand.
