Predicting the Steelers’ 53-man roster
In this 53-man roster series, we will try to predict which players will make every team’s final squad. Next up, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
There is no denying that the Pittsburgh Steelers dealt with an absurd amount of distractions last season between Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. The distractions obviously affected a talented team that ended the season with a 9-6-1 record and missed the playoffs.
Bell and Brown have now moved on which has already minimized the distractions from a year ago. While the production of those two will be missed, the Steelers look to already found their heirs in James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster. The rest of the team is talented enough to get back to the playoffs once again.
Quarterbacks
- Ben Roethlisberger
- Mason Rudolph
Ben Roethlisberger’s play has undoubtedly dipped a little in recent years from the player he was, but he is still good enough to lead this team to the playoffs and possibly a championship. Rudolph and Josh Dobbs have battled all preseason for the backup position, but Rudolph seems to have taken charge in recent weeks. Dobbs has flashed enough to be possible trade bait for a team looking to upgrade their backup quarterback situation.
Player to watch: Josh Dobbs
