Last week vs. Arkansas: Did Not Play

Season Stats: 145-for-194 (74.7%)| 2,166 yards| 27 TD| 2 INT| 18 rushes| 30 yards| 2 TD

Unfortunately, Tua Tagovailoa did not play against Arkansas this past weekend due to an ankle injury that required surgery that he suffered against Tennessee. No worries as the Crimson Tide were able to roll to an easy victory even without his services. Some people may think that hurts Tagovailoa’s Heisman chances even more, but that isn’t the case since Arkansas just isn’t very good right now. It also helps that Tua has been an absolute stud in the games he’s played in so far this season. Despite missing basically a game and a half, Tagovailoa is still among the nation’s leaders in passing yards and is third in the country with 27 passing touchdowns.

As stated previously, Tagovailoa did end up having surgery on his injured ankle on October 20th, the day after the Tennessee game. According to him and the team, he is still slated to be back in time for the monstrous showdown with no. 1-ranked LSU on November 9th. He will have had nearly three full weeks to recover from the surgery and hopefully be back to playing at the high level that he was prior to the injury. If he does, he still has a legitimate shot at claiming the Heisman Trophy.
