Scouting Report

What more could there be to say about Jerry Jeudy? He is this writer’s top rated wide receiver, and while CeeDee Lamb of Oklahoma is giving chase, it will be extremely difficult to catch up to Jeudy. In fact, at this point in the season and through evaluations, Jeudy is the second overall prospect on this writer’s big board behind only Chase Young of Ohio State.

More from With the First Pick

Through nine games in 2019, the 6-1, 192 pound junior receiver has recorded 57 catches from Tagovailoa for 753 receiving yards and nine touchdowns; Jeudy is averaging just over 13 yards per catch for the Crimson Tide this season. While he is a bit behind his pace of 68 catches, 1,315 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns from a year ago, Tua has been doing a much better job of spreading the ball around all over the field.

Jeudy excels at using his elite footwork off the line of scrimmage and crisp routes to create separation from opposing defenders; he has the ability to stem the defenders away from his break point, creating even more distance between himself and the defensive back. Catch comfortability is not an issue for Jeudy either, as he has an innate ability to bring in balls that stretch his catch radius.

The best part about Jeudy’s game, however, is what he can do with the football after the catch is made. With game breaking agility and footwork, Jeudy game bust a massive play at anytime while spinning multiple defenders around in the meantime; his tendency to stop on a dime and change direction with little to no loss of speed is rare.

At this point in his evaluation, this writer has Jeudy graded out as a top-10 prospect. Expect Jeudy to be the first wide receiver off the board, and he truly deserves that honor as well.
