4. Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert had a chance to enter the NFL Draft last season, but instead chose to return to school for his senior season. Even in what looks to be a better quarterback class, it looks like Herbert made the right call.

The knock on Herbert last season was his wild inconsistency. He had some very good games last year, especially against Stanford, but had games where his accuracy went right out the window. His ineffectiveness against pressure was also a negative to his game.

In 2019, we’ve seen a much better version of Herbert. Even in an offense that’s tailored to running the football first and a frustrating group of wide receiver screens, Herbert has shown improvement this season and is a first round talent.

The first thing that jumps out on tape is his live arm. His ability to push the football down the field is excellent, and the ball gets down the field in a hurry. He had two long touchdowns against Arizona were very impressive last weekend.

His accuracy looks better this season, and he puts more touch on the ball down the field when he needs to. He’s also a good passer on the move, where he doesn’t lose accuracy or power, and is a good athlete who can take off when he needs to. Herbert’s improvement has gained him more fans in the draft community.
