By Cory Kinnan
There has been some controversy as to whether or not Penn State tight end Pat Frieremuth is actually draft eligible, but he did confirm that he would be eligible for the 2020 NFL Draft if he chooses to declare. At 6-5 and 256 pounds, Freiermuth is a big bodied tight end who has shown the versatility to run block as well as well as thrive as a receiver.

On the season, Freiermuth has tallied 424 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 34 catches for the Nittany Lions offense. This comes off a freshman season where Freiermuth recorded 368 yards and eight touchdowns on 26 catches. Seeing a jump in production in 2019, the Penn State tight end has caught the eye of NFL scouts and draftniks.
As the NFL has become more passing oriented, tight ends have become a premium position to exploit mismatches over the middle of the field and in the red zone. Freiermuth has scored a high volume of red zone touchdowns and fits the bill here.
Still flying a bit under the radar, Freiermuth is a name to keep an eye on as underclassmen are beginning to make their declarations. In a fairly weak tight end class, there may be a market for the big Penn State tight end in the 2020 NFL Draft.
