More from With the First Pick

The legend of Chase Young somehow still continues to grow. The most dominant defender in college football returned to the field after a brief two-game suspension for accepting a loan from a family friend last year. While he’s head and shoulders above every other defensive prospect in the nation, his performance against Penn State certified that he’s true as advertised.

Young boasts elite athleticism, with length and strength, that allows him to freely move with nuanced pass rush sets. His agility in short areas is rare and his reaction timing gives him a chance to make a play in an instant. Notching 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in a major game demonstrated his dominance on Saturday. Young is easily the top prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft class should he declare.

Scouting Report

There has been quite the cast of running backs excelling this year, but few are doing it as quietly as JK Dobbins. On the year, Dobbins has 1446 rushing yards with a 6.6 yards per carry average. Against Penn State, he logged 157 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns, cementing that even against the most talented opponents, Dobbins can gash a defense.

His strongest skill, which was on full display this weekend, is his ability to recognize the hole and hit it. He hits top speed effortlessly, plays with physicality by dropping his shoulders for contact, and churns out safe yards, hardly ever dancing around. He demonstrated why he could be a stable choice in the backfield for NFL teams come the 2020 NFL Draft.
