Hill’s vision, decisiveness, patience

In the previous clip, we saw Hill display vision to see the outside lane and get to the edge. Hill, while not great, shows good vision as a runner, and good decisiveness to hit the hole that he eventually finds.

While the clip below is a rather simple touchdown, it shows Hill’s ability to see a hole as he walks into the endzone against the Crimson Tide two weeks ago. This type of vision makes Hill a great back between the tackles in addition to outside them as discussed previously.

He shows great patience in the clip above to let his guard clear a lane for him to walk into the endzone, but this has not always been the case with Hill. The Mississippi State back could show more patience at times in the backfield as he waits for a hole to develop.

Often times Hill can become a battering ram trying to create space rather than hoping to find a running lane. Sure, some of this impatience as a runner is due to the fact that there is penetration from opposing defensive fronts frequently, but there is an obvious concern around Hill’s patience as a ball carrier as well.
