Cornerback Casserole:

There’s just something about throwing three good things together and creating something that is great. Ohio State has decided to roll out a nickel defense as their base package this year due to having three cornerbacks that could possibly go in the top-60 in the draft.

A hint of solid cornerbacking, with a splash of elite nickel play, and a healthy dose of one of the best cornerback prospects of the last decade will get you the best cornerback casserole money can buy. Damon Arnette, Shaun Wade, and Jeffery Okudah are a special group whose lockdown coverage has contributed Ohio State being second in the country in sacks. They each bring their own flavor to make up a masterful cornerback casserole.

A solid prospect in his own right but can be overshadowed by the other two. Arnette brings elite football intelligence and leadership as the veteran of the group. He consistently uses his elite mental processing to put himself in the position to make plays. He has improved his ability to play the ball in the air and will see his stock continue to grow now that he has answered those questions. Damon Arnette has the skillset and IQ to be a top tier cornerback in a Cover 3 scheme at the next level.

Scouting Report

Not having a lot of film playing on the outside could benefit Shaun Wade because he would probably be too good at it. Keeping him on the outside would be limiting his versatile skill set that could make him the ultimate chess piece player.

He combines very good run support as an aggressive defender with smooth coverage skills to cover in the slot or on the outside. Has very good athletic ability that makes his range intriguing as a moveable piece who can take some reps at safety as well. Shaun Wade is a first-round prospect whose unique skillset will change a defense.

Scouting Report

A truly special prospect, it’s hard to poke holes in his game. His rare blend of size and fluidity makes him an elite prospect at the position. Watching him play the position is a treat because it looks like an art form with how smooth he is in all his movements.

Patience at the line of scrimmage with the length to stab and excellent foot speed to run stride for stride is only the beginning of his game. He plays with great balance while remaining explosive out of his breaks and stays in the hip pocket of receivers.

He displays very good ball skills in coverage to make plays on the football in his coverage as he rarely allows completions. Jeffery Okudah has the tools and the tape to be the next great lockdown corner in the NFL.
