Anthony Gordon, QB, Washington State

He may not be the quarterback that most expected to see on the article here, but Cougars quarterback Anthony Gordon needs to command your attention for the 2020 NFL Draft. Gordon has thrived in Mike Leach’s air raid system after sitting behind Gardner Minshew last season. Gordon has thrown for 4,920 yards and 45 touchdowns this season, which are absolute monster numbers. It will be important to check out those 14 interceptions during a full scouting process. Either way, he would certainly be in the Heisman race if Wazzu was a better team.

The questions will surround Gordon because of the system he plays in that helps out the quarterback a bit, but Gordon has some traits to become a late round option at the quarterback position that could develop into something more.

Gordon has a very quick release, something that makes this offense run in Leach’s quick passing game. While he doesn’t have elite arm strength, it’s his accuracy that flashes on tape. He’s made some excellent throws in between multiple defenders in between 10 and 20 yards, where placement had to be money. He’s also had success with accuracy down the field, and puts great touch on the ball when he needs to. It will be interesting to watch him go up against this Washington defense.
